How we decide what gets listed
There is no legal definition of an eco-friendly promotional product, which is why the category is full of items whose only green content is the word 'eco' in the description. We built this site around a test instead: before a product is listed, the supplier data has to name a material or a certification.
The test
Every product is scored against a vocabulary of materials and certifications — recycled content, rPET, bamboo, cork, organic and recycled cotton, wheat straw, hemp, jute, seed paper, FSC, GRS, ocean-bound plastic. A claim in the product name counts for more than one buried in a description, and marketing adjectives on their own count for almost nothing. Products that clear the score but still have no material we can name are excluded, because there would be nothing honest to print on the page.
What we will and will not say
For certified items — GRS, RCS, FSC, GOTS — we can supply the certificate reference and the audited recycled percentage with the quote. For everything else we pass on the supplier's stated claim as a claim. We do not convert catalogue language into a percentage, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
The part suppliers do not usually mention
The most effective thing you can do environmentally is order fewer units. It beats every material substitution available, it costs nothing, and it is the number that holds up best in a sustainability report. We would rather sell you 400 items people keep than 1,000 that end up in a bin.
