Disposable coffee cups are the hardest thing in the waste stream to recycle — the plastic lining is fused to the paper, so most municipal systems reject them outright. - Are disposable coffee cups recyclable?
- Mostly not. The waterproof lining is bonded to the paper, so separating them requires specialist facilities that few areas have. Even cups marked recyclable usually end up in general waste. That is the specific problem a reusable travel mug solves.
- What is wheat straw and is it durable?
- A composite of wheat stalk fibre — an agricultural by-product — bound with a plastic resin, typically 30 to 50% straw. It reduces virgin plastic and uses waste material. It is not compostable and it is less durable than steel, so it suits lower-price giveaways rather than gifts.
- Can travel mugs go in the dishwasher?
- Most vacuum-insulated bodies say hand wash only — dishwasher heat can compromise the vacuum seal and will dull printed decoration. Lids are usually dishwasher safe. Laser engraving is the decoration that survives regardless.
