The environmental case for a lunch bag is unusually easy to make: it replaces disposable packaging every working day, which is a rate of displacement no other promotional product comes close to. A bag used four days a week for two years displaces roughly 400 single-use containers or paper sacks. That is the argument to put in the internal email.
The catch is insulation. Most cooler linings are PEVA or PU foam, neither of which is recycled or recyclable, so a "recycled cooler bag" almost always means a recycled outer shell with a conventional liner. That is a real improvement and it is not a complete one — worth stating accurately if the claim is going into a report. A handful of lines now use recycled-content liners; those are flagged on the product page.

- Usually not. The recycled claim on most cooler bags applies to the outer shell fabric; the insulating layer is typically conventional PEVA or foam because food-contact and thermal requirements limit the options. Some lines now offer recycled-content liners — ask, and be suspicious of a listing that does not distinguish.
- How long do promotional cooler bags keep food cold?
- A soft cooler with a standard liner and a frozen gel pack holds safe temperature for roughly four to six hours. Larger bags with thicker insulation and more ice extend that to a full day. Ambient temperature and how often it is opened matter as much as the bag.
- Can lunch bags be washed?
- Wipe-clean is standard; almost none are machine washable because the insulation delaminates. Removable inner containers are the practical answer for anything that will be used daily.
