Recycled Cotton & Canvas

260 products · minimums from 50 · 5–10 business days

Recycled cotton is reclaimed from textile waste — factory offcuts and post-consumer garments — shredded back to fibre and respun. Because nothing new is grown, it avoids the water, land and chemical inputs of cotton farming entirely, which makes it the lowest-input cotton available by a wide margin.

The trade-off is mechanical. Shredding shortens the fibre, so recycled cotton is usually blended with recycled polyester or a proportion of virgin cotton to hold strength, and the resulting fabric has a slightly coarser hand than premium organic. For a heavyweight canvas tote that is barely noticeable; for a soft-touch tee it is.

Minimum around 50 pieces, production 5–10 business days. Rush production is available on many items in this range.

Frequently asked questions

Is recycled cotton as good as new cotton?
For structure and appearance in bags and canvas, yes. For softness and strength in fine apparel, the shorter fibres mean it is normally blended rather than used at 100%. Check the blend percentage if hand feel matters.
How is recycled cotton made?
Textile waste is sorted by colour, shredded back to loose fibre and respun into yarn. Sorting by colour lets much of it skip re-dyeing, which saves a significant amount of water and chemistry on top of the avoided farming.
