Ocean-bound plastic is waste collected within a defined distance of a coastline or waterway — commonly 50 km — in areas without functioning waste management, where it would very likely have reached the sea. It is not plastic fished out of the ocean, and any supplier implying otherwise is overselling. Intercepting it before it enters the water is the more effective intervention and the honest description.
The claim is credible when there is a certification behind it, because collection and traceability are the whole value. Look for a named programme or a chain-of-custody reference rather than a generic ocean graphic.
